What is an Apostille?


An Apostille is a certification verifying the authenticity of a document's signature and seal for use in countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention. It eliminates the need for further authentication by an embassy or consulate.

How the U.S. Issues Apostilles


  • State Level Apostille: Issued by the Secretary of State for documents originating within a state (e.g., birth certificates, notarized documents, etc.).

  • Federal Apostille: Issued by the U.S. Department of State for federal documents (e.g., FBI background checks, federal court records, etc.).

Countries That Require Consular Legalization

Documents for the following countries require embassy or consular legalization instead of an Apostille:

Standard Processing (10-15 business days):

  • $75.00 per additional document


Expedited Processing (5-7 business days):

  • $200.00 for the first document
  • $100.00 per additional document


Rush Processing (3-5 business days):

  • $250.00 for the first document
  • $125.00 per additional document


Same Day / 24-Hour Rush Service (Availability Limited):

  • $350.00 for the first document
  • $150.00 per additional document

State Authentication Fee:

  • $10.00 - $25.00 per document


Notary Fee:

  • $35.00 per notarization


Courier Service (Same-Day Pickup & Delivery in NYC):

  • $50.00 to $75.00


International Shipping:

  • $75.00 to $250.00 (depending on destination & shipping method).


Weekend or After-Hours Rush Services:

  • Additional $50.00 per document
